Welcome to the Revival school of wrestling!

Revival Wrestling was born with a mission far beyond the mat.
We challenge athletes to grow in every area of life—physically, mentally, and emotionally—while modeling integrity, discipline, and respect. Parents, coaches, and communities trust us because our purpose is greater than podiums. We’re committed to reshaping youth athletics with values that last a lifetime. Our programs reflect the priorities of families who seek structure, mentorship, and long-term development—not just quick wins. Together, we’re building a regional legacy—uniting schools, families, and athletes to elevate the standard of North County wrestling and shape its next generation of leaders.

FAQ

Whether you’re stepping into Revival for the first time or continuing your athlete’s journey with us, this FAQ is designed to give you clarity, confidence, and a seamless experience from day one.

What age can my child start wrestling?

Kids can start as early as 5 years old in our Fundamentals group. We use age‑appropriate drills designed to build balance, athleticism, and confidence—never pressure. Older wrestlers join Developmental or Advanced groups based on experience and readiness.

Does my child need prior experience?

No experience is required. Revival serves beginners through national-level competitors. We meet every athlete where they are and teach technique progressively.

Is wrestling safe for kids?

Yes. Revival follows a controlled, technique-first system with supervised drilling, proper warm-ups, SafeSport standards, and age/weight/skill-based pairings. Safety and development come before intensity.

What gear does my child need?

To start: wrestling shoes, athletic shorts and t-shirt, headgear (recommended), and a water bottle. We guide families on singlets and optional gear as kids begin competing.

What does it cost to join?

Membership includes multiple practices per week, curriculum access, and community events. Tournament fees, travel, and merchandise are separate. Multi-child families receive discounts.

How often are practices?

Fundamentals (5–7): 2x/week
Developmental (8–12): 2–3x/week
Advanced/Competition: 3–4x/week plus optional live sessions
All practices are structured and age-appropriate.

Will wrestling help build confidence or just physical skills?

Wrestling builds discipline, confidence, resilience, respect, and work ethic. Parents often value these life skills even more than athletic progress.

Will my child compete in tournaments?

Competition is encouraged but never forced. We guide families on when beginners are ready for local, regional, and national events so tournaments feel exciting—not overwhelming.

How do you handle kids with different skill levels?

Athletes are grouped by age, weight, experience, and maturity. Beginners learn fundamentals while advanced wrestlers train at a higher pace. No child is placed in a group they’re not ready for.

What qualifications do your coaches have?

Our coaches include former college wrestlers and certified USA Wrestling coaches. Beyond credentials, our philosophy prioritizes clear instruction, high standards, and character development.

What if my child feels nervous or shy?

Many kids start uncertain. We pair beginners with supportive partners, introduce skills step-by-step, and celebrate effort. Most athletes become confident within weeks.

How does wrestling compare to other sports?

Wrestling uniquely builds confidence, work ethic, discipline, agility, mental toughness, and accountability. These carry over into school and life.

What is the parent’s role?

Support effort over results, encourage consistency, keep the sport fun, avoid sideline pressure, and let coaches coach. We guide families through tournament expectations.

Are there girls in the program?

Yes! Girls are welcomed at all levels. They train with peers of similar size/experience and may compete in girls-only divisions when available.

What makes Revival Wrestling different?

Revival was built with a mission beyond the mat. We provide long-term development, a character-first culture, safe and structured training, experienced coaches, and a community that connects schools, families, and athletes. We focus on building strong athletes and even stronger leaders.
